5 Albums to Look Forward to in 2019
New year – new music, right? 2019 is shaping up to be an exciting year in music with many artists releasing new albums. Here are five albums to get excited about and mark the release date in your calendar!
5. Metronomy – Nights Out

I’ve been a fan of Metronomy ever since I first heard their song The Bay which I still sometimes can’t get out of my head for days on end. Over the years they’ve released a lot of amazing music, including one of my favorites – Hang Me Out To Dry featuring Robyn, a song from their last Album titled Summer 08. And now, 10 years after the release of their iconic album Nights Out, they are releasing a 10th anniversary edition including B sides, remixes and unreleased tracks. A French language version of their track Heartbreaker was released this month and I can’t get enough of it! If you enjoy British electronic pop, be sure to put this release on your calendar. When? Out February 8th, 2019
4. Kerli – Shadow Works

If you’re not familiar with the Estonian singer-songwriter, she’s definitely worth checking out! Her debut studio album Love Is Dead, released in 2008, charted on the Billboard 200. With the lead single Walking On Air charting in several countries. Over the years her style has changed and evolved. A source close to the artist states that the new album titled Shadow Works is “The most authentic expression of her art to date“. So far she’s released two new singles in anticipation of the new album, including Better (Which I can’t get enough of!) When? Out February 22nd, 2019
3. Marina & The Diamonds – TBA

I’ve been a fan of Marina & The Diamonds ever since I was a teenager trying to figure my life out. She’s been with me through everything – ups and downs, heartbreak and happiness. And she’s finally releasing some new music in 2019! Her last studio album Froot was released back in 2015. We don’t know a whole lot of details on the new album. And Marina herself explained to PopBuzz: “I want to tell people details all the time but I can’t because I have been planning it for ages“. Marina also notes that the production of the album is very different to her previous albums. As well as we can expect a new song in January. Marina also says that she would love to collaborate with her friend Lana Del Rey. Which she describes as “one of the best artists of our generation”. I really hope we get to hear that collaboration! When? Sometime in April 2019
2. Dido – Still On My Mind

Dido is one of those artists that’s able to bring me to a happy place. After all, I grew up listening to her music. I still can’t get enough of classics like Here With Me, which is on a heavy rotation on my Spotify. Still On My Mind will be the singer’s first album in 5 years. And she’s about to go on tour for the first time in 15 years! I for one am ready for her comeback! So far she’s released two singles from the upcoming album – Hurricanes & Friends. At least for me, Hurricanes is one of those songs that you need to listen loudly on headphones – it takes me on a trip and gives me chills! Excitement is an understatement for me to describe how I feel about this new release. When? Out March 8th, 2019
1. Lana Del Rey – Norman Fucking Rockwell

How could I not include my favorite artist in this list? I’ve been a fan of Lana Del Rey ever since I first heard Video Games back in 2011. Her sound has evolved and changed and over the years her music has spoken to me like nothing else ever has. After all it was Lana Del Rey who inspired me to create Ciao Amore. She’s already released three singles from the new album. With my favorite so far being Mariners Apartment Complex. If I can judge the new album titled Norman Fucking Rockwell from the three singles, I’d say it’s a mix between her albums Honeymoon and Lust For Life. It feels authentic to her and definitely less radio friendly than her early releases. Which is something other people might not like, but I love her for putting out music she wants to put out, instead of just concentrating on sales and popularity. When? Out March 29th, 2019
